Now Hiring: Cafe Assistants for Wake County Public Schools (2026–2027 School Yr)


**Orientations being scheduled in Augustof 2026**


Client: Wake County Public School System - Child Nutrition Services

Employer: Skyline Personnel

Position Type: Temp-to-Hire

Hourly Wage: $14/hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6.5-hour shifts (includes 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Typical Shift Start Times: Between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM

Typical Shift End Times: Between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM


Skyline Personnel is excited to partner with the Wake County Public School System to offer entry-level food service opportunities for the upcoming school year. Whether you're looking to gain experience in school nutrition or seeking a path to permanent employment with WCPSS, this is a great opportunity to get started.


Orientations will begin in August, but the screening process takes 1-2 weeks. Get in touch with us to start the process ASAP!




  1. Assist in preparing meals by following standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
  2. Learn and apply quantity food preparation methods and procedures.
  3. Properly operate and care for kitchen equipment.
  4. Follow all sanitation and food safety standards.
  5. Follow assigned work and cleaning schedules.
  6. Label, store, and handle leftover food properly.
  7. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  8. Maintain cleanliness in kitchen, serving lines, dining areas, tables, and floors.
  9. Assist in any area as directed by your supervisor.
  10. Comply with policies and procedures in the employee handbook.
  11. Communicate positively with students, staff, parents, and visitors.



  • Must pass a background check and physical examination, including TB testing. (out of pocket cost)
  • Must complete 520 hours through the agency before becoming eligible to apply for permanent positions with WCPSS. (Permanent hire is not guaranteed and is based on application and selection for open positions.)
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work at various school locations as needed.
