Entry Level Flooring Sales Rep information

What does an entry level flooring sales rep do?

An Entry Level Flooring Sales Rep assists customers in selecting flooring products such as carpet, hardwood, vinyl, or tile. They provide product information, answer customer questions, and help with measuring and quoting prices. These reps often work in retail stores or showrooms and may also follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction. Their main goal is to match the right flooring solution to each customer's needs while learning about the products and sales techniques. This role is ideal for those starting a career in sales and home improvement.

What does a typical day look like for an entry level flooring sales rep?

As an entry level flooring sales rep, your day often includes greeting customers in the showroom, learning about their flooring needs, and recommending suitable products. You’ll also create quotes, follow up with leads, and coordinate with the installation team to ensure customer satisfaction. While much of your work is customer-facing, you’ll also collaborate with senior sales staff and attend product training sessions to deepen your knowledge. This mix of sales, customer service, and teamwork makes the role dynamic and a great learning experience for those new to the flooring industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level flooring sales rep, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Flooring Sales Rep, you need foundational sales skills, product knowledge of flooring materials, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and basic Microsoft Office tools is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and a customer-focused attitude help you build trust and close sales. These abilities are crucial for meeting sales targets, ensuring client satisfaction, and driving business growth in a competitive retail environment.

Job description

In-Home Flooring Sales Professional — Detroit
$80K–$125K Average Earnings | $200K+ Top Performer Potential | Appointments Provided
Join One of America’s Fastest-Growing Flooring Companies — and the Official Flooring Partner of the Detroit Lions
Go Flooring is expanding throughout Metro Detroit, and we’re looking for talented sales professionals who want to build a serious career with a rapidly growing company.
Go Flooring is proud to be the Official Flooring Partner of the Detroit Lions.
We’re not just entering the Detroit market—we’re investing in it, building our brand here, and creating opportunities for sales professionals who want to grow with us.
With nearly 10,000 customers and growing, Go Flooring has become one of the largest and fastest-growing flooring companies in the country.
This Is NOT Cold Calling or Door-to-Door Sales.
We invest heavily in marketing and customer acquisition so our sales professionals can focus on what they do best:
Selling.
Our call center schedules and confirms homeowner appointments for you. You meet customers in their homes, understand their project, measure the space, show flooring samples, recommend the right solution, provide pricing and help them make a confident buying decision.
We provide the appointments, products, training and installation infrastructure.
You provide the professionalism, work ethic and ability to close.
A Serious Income Opportunity
Go Flooring offers one of the strongest compensation opportunities in the flooring industry.

  • Approximately $1,000 average commission per completed sale
  • $80,000–$125,000 average annual earnings
  • $200,000+ opportunity for top performers
  • Uncapped commissions
  • Additional volume and production bonuses
  • $1,000 training bonus
  • Company vehicle opportunity based on volume and production
  • Health, dental and vision benefits

Your income isn’t limited by a salary structure. The more customers you help and the more business you produce, the greater your earning opportunity.
We’ll Train You to Become an In-Home Flooring Professional
You don’t need to be a flooring expert on day one.
We’ll train you on our products, systems and sales process, including how to:

  • Conduct a professional in-home consultation
  • Measure flooring projects
  • Present samples and product options
  • Identify the customer’s needs, style and budget
  • Recommend the right flooring solution
  • Build and present project proposals
  • Explain financing and promotional options
  • Close the sale and deliver an exceptional customer experience

Once you make the sale, our operations and installation teams take it from there.
We represent products from leading manufacturers including Shaw and Mohawk, and many Go Flooring projects can be installed in as little as a couple of days.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for competitive, professional people who know how to communicate, build trust and close.
Previous flooring experience is not required.
Experience in home improvement, roofing, windows, HVAC, solar, automotive, furniture, real estate, insurance or other commission-based sales can translate extremely well into this opportunity.
You should be:

  • Professional and confident working directly with homeowners
  • Competitive and motivated by performance
  • Comfortable working in a commission-driven environment
  • Coachable and willing to learn
  • A strong communicator and problem solver
  • Self-motivated and accountable
  • Interested in building a long-term, high-income sales career

Why Go Flooring?
Nearly 10,000 customers and growing.
One of America’s fastest-growing flooring companies.

Company-provided appointments.
No cold calling.
Approximately $1,000 average commission per completed sale.
Company vehicle opportunity for high producers.
Industry-leading products.
Professional training and support.
And we’re still growing.
As Go Flooring expands throughout Detroit and across the country, we’re looking for people who want the opportunity to grow with us.
