Job description

Objective
Support clients in scaling high-quality, on-brand content that reduces the mental load for modern families. The writer will help translate existing ideas into clear, empathetic, and actionable content across email, guides, newsletters, blogs, and social channels.
Profile Overview
Client is an AI-powered family organization app designed to function as a "chief of staff for families." As a growing startup, the team needs a writer (preferably a mom) who can seamlessly adopt an established brand voice and create content that resonates with busy parents, especially moms, without sounding condescending, pandering, or overly generic.
The ideal candidate has experience in consumer-focused content, strong brand voice adaptation skills, and a deep understanding of family dynamics, household labor, and mental load topics. This role requires more than strong writing ability; the writer should inherently understand the realities of managing a household and raising children in a modern family and be able to write about those experiences authentically and empathetically.
Client strongly prefers a female writer (preferably a mom), though male writers with demonstrated expertise in mental load, household labor, and modern family dynamics will also be considered.
Scope
  • Starting at ~5 hours/week (22 hours/month minimum), with flexibility to scale
  • Potential to increase hours during peak seasons (e.g., back-to-school, holidays, travel seasons)
  • Ongoing monthly retainer with direct collaboration with the founding team

Responsibilities
  • Write and edit lifecycle, onboarding, engagement, and retention emails (via OneSignal)
  • Develop long-form guides (e.g., seasonal, partner-driven, or educational content)
  • Draft social media captions (primarily Instagram, with potential LinkedIn expansion)
  • Support monthly newsletter creation, highlighting family organization tips, use cases, and customer stories
  • Support blog content (both SEO-driven and brand-forward pieces, though SEO is a lower priority)
  • Translate internal ideas into polished, publish-ready content
  • Maintain and replicate Client's established tone and voice
  • Create content that reflects a nuanced understanding of mental load, household management, and family life
  • Collaborate on content planning and iterate based on feedback
  • Develop engagement-focused content that helps existing users discover new ways to use the platform in everyday life

Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in content writing, preferably in consumer, parenting, family, lifestyle, or community-focused brands
  • Strong grasp of brand voice and tone replication
  • Exceptional email marketing and lifecycle content writing skills
  • Ability to write about sensitive topics (e.g., mental load, household labor, family roles) with empathy, nuance, and authenticity
  • Deep understanding of modern dual-working family life and the invisible labor involved in running a household
  • Ability to take a high-level concept and independently develop complete content with minimal direction
  • Experience with conversion-focused writing, including compelling subject lines, CTAs, and engagement campaigns
  • Familiarity with SEO content best practices (without sacrificing readability)
  • Comfort using AI tools as a support (not a replacement) for writing
  • Parent (especially a current mom) or someone with deep familiarity with the target audience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt quickly in a startup environment

Preferred Experience
Experience writing for consumer-facing brands with strong community-building and customer engagement strategies, such as Bobbie, Babylist, Lalo, Coterie, or similar parenting, family, and lifestyle brands.
The strongest candidates will have experience creating:
  • Lifecycle and retention email campaigns and community-focused content and newsletters
  • Customer engagement and activation content
  • Educational guides and resource content
  • Family, parenting, or household management content

What Success Looks Like
The ideal writer can naturally understand and write about the realities of family life without requiring extensive briefing for every topic.
For example, when creating content around family vacations, the writer should intuitively understand:
  • The mental load involved in planning and preparing for travel (packing, travel documents, pet care, childcare logistics, medications, snacks, chargers, activity planning, etc.)
  • How Client's features can help families organize and share responsibilities more effectively
  • The emotional benefits of reducing and sharing mental load
  • Appropriate messaging and calls-to-action for both existing customers and prospective users

Similarly, the writer should be able to take high-level concepts such as:
  • "5 ways we use Client to get dinner on the table"
  • "Is your sports calendar in your calendar yet? The simplest way to sync up"
  • "How to tag-team the grocery list with the whole family"

and independently transform them into engaging, publish-ready content that feels authentic to modern family life.
About Client
Client is a fast-growing startup founded by two sisters, combining expertise in software, marketing, and product design. The platform helps families stay organized and reduce everyday stress through smart tools and thoughtful content. Client positions itself as both a utility and a trusted resource for modern family life.
