Job Description:Our GovTech client is seeking a Content Writer to support a large-scale product documentation and knowledge base modernization initiative. The organization supports 77 software products and is preparing for several significant initiatives, creating a need for additional hands-on content support.

This role will partner closely with the Lead Content Writer, who has established the overall content strategy and will help prioritize work across products. The Content Writer will rewrite legacy documentation, create missing content, reorganize existing materials, and support the migration of documentation from Zendesk into Salesforce Knowledge. This is a high-volume environment with hundreds to thousands of pieces of content requiring review and modernization.

Strong writing skills are the biggest priority. The ideal candidate has experience documenting software or technical products and is comfortable partnering directly with engineers, Product Managers, and subject matter experts to understand complex functionality and translate it into clear, concise, user-friendly content.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Lead Content Writer to prioritize and execute documentation initiatives across multiple software products.
  • Rewrite and modernize legacy product documentation, including content that has not been updated in several years.
  • Identify documentation gaps and create new content where information is missing or incomplete.
  • Support the migration and reorganization of content from Zendesk into Salesforce Knowledge.
  • Review, organize, and maintain hundreds to thousands of knowledge base articles across different product areas.
  • Collaborate directly with engineers, Product Managers, and subject matter experts to gather information and validate technical accuracy.
  • Translate complex product and technical concepts into clear, concise, user-friendly documentation.
  • Maintain consistency in writing style, terminology, structure, and quality across documentation.
  • Manage documentation throughout its lifecycle, including creation, review, updates, migration, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Leverage AI tools such as Claude to support and streamline documentation workflows.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in technical writing, product documentation, content writing, or knowledge management.
  • Strong hands-on writing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation for software or technical products.
  • Experience working with knowledge bases, help centers, or large documentation repositories.
  • Experience rewriting, modernizing, reorganizing, or migrating existing documentation.
  • Ability to partner directly with engineers, Product Managers, and technical subject matter experts to gather and validate information.
  • Experience with documentation or knowledge management platforms such as Zendesk, Salesforce Knowledge, Confluence, SharePoint, ServiceNow, or similar tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple content initiatives simultaneously.
  • Comfort working through large volumes of existing content while maintaining consistency and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Knowledge.
  • Experience migrating documentation from Zendesk to Salesforce Knowledge or between similar knowledge management platforms.
  • Experience with large-scale content or knowledge base migrations.
  • Experience using Claude or other AI tools within technical writing or documentation workflows.
  • Familiarity with content governance, taxonomy, information architecture, or documentation lifecycle management.
  • Experience documenting Records Management, county clerk, court/judicial, or business tax filing software.

Project Overview:The organization owns 77 software products and has several sizable product initiatives underway. A major priority is modernizing its knowledge ecosystem and transitioning existing documentation from Zendesk into Salesforce Knowledge.

The Content Writer will join an established Lead Content Writer who has already developed the strategy and prioritization framework for the initiative. The immediate need is hands-on execution: reviewing large volumes of existing documentation, rewriting outdated material, creating missing content, migrating information from disparate locations, and ensuring the resulting knowledge base is accurate, organized, consistent, and easy for users to navigate.
