Job description

Position Summary

The Logistics Freight Forwarding Import Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing international import shipments from origin to final destination. This role ensures timely cargo movement, regulatory compliance, accurate documentation, and effective communication with customers, overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and internal departments. The coordinator utilizes CargoWise One (CargoWise) and other logistics systems to manage shipment operations, maintain accurate records, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the import process.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate ocean and air import shipments from origin to final destination.
  • Create and maintain shipment files in CargoWise and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Prepare, review, and process import shipping documents, including bills of lading, arrival notices, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs-related documents.
  • Track shipments and provide shipment status updates to customers, overseas agents, and internal teams.
  • Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, truckers, warehouses, NVOCCs, and overseas offices to ensure timely cargo movement.
  • Assist with customs clearance and ensure compliance with applicable import regulations and company procedures.
  • Communicate with customers and vendors regarding shipment status, documentation requirements, and delivery schedules.
  • Review shipment records and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist with freight billing, invoice verification, and operational reporting as needed.
  • Resolve routine shipment issues and escalate complex matters to management when necessary.
  • Maintain organized electronic files and records in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform other import operations and logistics duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Entry-level experience in import coordination
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in data entry and management
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
