SOC Analyst 1
Location: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (On-site)
Role Overview
The SOC Analyst I is an entry-level member of the enterprise Security Operations Center responsible for monitoring security alerts, performing initial triage, and supporting incident response activities. This role is critical in helping to establish and expand an internal SOC capability. Analysts will work on-site five days a week and support a 24/7/365 operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor SIEM, EDR, and other security tools for alerts and suspicious activity.
  • Perform initial triage, classification, and escalation of security events.
  • Investigate basic security incidents including phishing, malware detections, and suspicious user activity.
  • Follow SOC playbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Document findings, actions taken, and recommendations in ticketing systems.
  • Support senior analysts during deeper investigations.
  • Participate in continuous training to build SOC proficiency and cybersecurity fundamentals.
  • Contribute to the build-out of the internal SOC by providing feedback on processes and tooling.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A Security+ certification is also required. Candidates should possess a foundational understanding of networking, operating systems, and security concepts. This includes familiarity with SIEM tools and basic log analysis. Strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and excellent communication and documentation skills are necessary for this role.
Experience: 0-6 months of experience in IT or cybersecurity is preferred. This position is ideal for entry level candidates with relevant coursework or internships.
Work Environment
This is an on-site position, requiring work Monday through Friday. The SOC operates on a 24/7/365 basis. While there are no night shifts currently, there is potential for future second shift coverage (Monday-Friday).
