Job description

Overview
The BSA CTR Analyst focuses on identifying, validating, and filing Currency Transaction Reports to ensure the bank compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and FinCEN regulations. The CTR Analyst primary role is to conduct research for CTRs completed/submitted by branch teammates via the teller platform and submit reports within the BSA software. The CTR Analyst works closely with the BSA Officer, CTR Officer, SAR Officer, and High Risk Officer, and senior management to identify gaps, recommend improvements, and maintain a strong culture of compliance.
This position is available in Greenville, SC and Blairsville, GA
What You'll Do
  • Reconcile summary CTR reports in AML solution to those contained in Director and/or the Teller system.
  • Ensure all CTRs are accurate, complete and filed within regulatory timeframes
  • Review and resolve system-generated CTR alerts and exceptions
  • Research, analyze and correct CTR errors based on FinCEN CTR correspondence
  • Identify discrepancies or missing information and coordinate with operations, frontline staff, and branches to resolve them.
  • Determine customer eligibility for CTR exemption status. Complete annual exemption reviews.
  • Conduct CTR Exemption Review and maintain documentation
  • Assist BSA Management with remediation of all exams, audit, and QC findings
  • Report any deficiencies associated with AML solution/teller platforms
  • Subject matter experts of CTRs for branch teammates
  • Conduct research associated with FinCEN 314(a) screening: coordinate research with all entities subject to screening within the bank's AML oversight.
  • Acknowledge FinCEN watch list alerts in AML software.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements for Monetary Instrument Sales Log
  • Verify OFAC/SDN updates in AML software and Director
  • OFAC SDN Update testing
  • Review official check issuance and redemption activity for potential CTR implications
  • Cash reviews - Checking the cash in for foreign currency and wires report is a daily validation report to verify cash in for foreign currency sold and wire transfers.
  • Monitor foreign currency purchases, sales, exchanges, and related transactions to determine whether currency equivalents met CTR thresholds, ensuring proper conversion to US dollar equivalents for threshold determination
  • Monitor official checks purchased with currency, ensuring proper aggregation and accurate classification of cash-in transactions
  • Identify discrepancies or missing information related to official purchases or redemption involving currency, and coordinate with branch or operations teams to resolve them
  • Escalate suspicious activity relating but not limited to possible structuring, unusual cash patterns, third-party cash activity, mismatches between stated purpose and behavior.
  • Support CTR Officer with any monitoring, testing, and training as needed.
  • Assist BSA management during exams and audits as well as remediation of findings.
  • Compliance Training: Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

Requirements For Success
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, criminal justice, or economics preferred
  • 2+ years prior BSA, banking, or fraud experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC regulations and industry standards
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, organized, and a skilled time manager
  • Must have a good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Previous teller experience or bank operations
    • CAMS, CBAP, or CAFP Certification
