The Area Sales Manager is responsible for achieving hotel revenue goals for six hotels within the Eugene-Springfield market and their assigned market segment(s). This role is primarily remote, with occasional in-person workdays, hotel visits, local client meetings, and outside sales calls (ranging from local to out-of-state), as well as occasional attendance at conferences and events.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Serves the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate hotel features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations.
  • Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to maximize revenue opportunities and build customer loyalty.
  • Utilizes and leverages Merete sales and franchise tools effectively and efficiently.
  • Creates rapport with Sales & Marketing, hotel leadership and associates through frequent hotel visits and Microsoft Teams communication.
  • Conducts meet & greet meetings, hotel tours and site inspections for potential customers on hotel property.
  • Develops and builds relationships within the local community to strengthen and expand customer base by attending networking events and in-person meetings.
  • Completes proactive selling tasks including but not limited to prospecting, networking, and outside face to face sales calls.
  • Writes clear, accurate and timely email communications to clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Regional Director of Sales & Marketing
  • Manages and regularly updates client information in the CRM.

Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
  • Constantly standing/walking, giving tours of the hotel, and showing meeting spaces and guest rooms on tile or carpet surfaces, occasional climbing of stairs.
  • Constantly sitting - standard office furniture (padded swivel chair, and car seat.)
  • Lifting /carrying average weight frequently 10 lbs. Maximum weight occasionally 20 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling average weight frequently 10 lbs. Maximum weight occasionally 20 lbs. Driving in car frequently, getting in and out of car frequently.
  • Exposed to general office environments such as computers, printers, conversation/telephone noise and fluorescent lighting.
  • Exposed to various weather conditions when making sales calls. Must adhere to all safety standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 2 years' hotel sales manager experience preferably with a major brand: Marriott, Hilton, IHG etc. This is not an entry level sales manager position. Excellent negotiation skills. Read, write, and speak English fluently. Valid driver license and clean driving record. Ability to represent company and hotels in a professional manner at all times. Demonstrated ability to consistently meet sales activity and revenue goals. Experience with Salesforce and CVENT/MeetingBroker preferred. Valid driver license with acceptable driving record. Must pass criminal background check.

Booking space goal and average rate in market segment. Meets or exceeds productivity/sales standards and goals. Effective time management (i.e. planning prioritizing, delegating, etc.) Effective communication both verbal and written with vendors, clients, associates, and all members of management. Schedule will vary based on business needs (nights/weekends as needed). Follow all appropriate policies and procedures.
