This may involve helping prepare taxes, overseeing an audit, handling bookkeeping and journal entries, or creating financial statements on a predetermined schedule. CPAs can also provide consulting services, so may need to juggle time spent talking with others with time spent processing statements. Many entry-level CPAs work as part of a larger accounting team because employers who only have a single accountant on staff prefer experienced applicants. Job description

CALLING ALL CPAโ€™Sย  (This is not a remote position. Must be willing and able to work in an office setting.)

Are you a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who holds an active license (preferably) in the state of Arkansas?ย  Do you have recent experience working for a CPA firm so youโ€™re up to date, in the know?ย  Are you ready to make a change and see if the grass really IS greener?ย  Then Bell & Company is looking for you.

Who is Bell & Company, PA?
Excellent question!ย  Bell & Company is a midsize CPA firm based in North Little Rock, AR. We have offices in Conway and Harrison too. We have proudly served our clients for over 43 years and are still growing. Our success is attributable to our strong leadership and the excellent team of people who provide exceptional service to our clients. We are made up of dedicated people who take pride in the work they do, are willing to go the extra mile to ensure our clients receive the service they expect and for which Bell & Company is known.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone that really likes to do taxes. Simple but true. We need someone who understands how to prepare tax returns. While we do prepare individual returns, we focus more on business returns; some are complex with multiple entities or multi-state clients or maybe a non-profit group or even a trust. This diversity in our client base brings diversity to the work you will do. Do you enjoy a challenge?ย  Then public accounting is for you.

Tell me more about the work and expectationsโ€ฆyou ask?
Sure thing. We expect you to come ready to collaborate, share information, and ask when you donโ€™t know something. Donโ€™t spin your wheels too long on something because that just wastes time and money. Be open to others coming to you when they know you are the more experienced or more knowledgeable one on something.
We expect you to learn our company, policies, procedures and why we do what we do and how we do it. Once you understand these things we welcome suggestions and ideas to improve client service, processes, or ways to collaborate more effectively.

Additionally, you will be expected to (gotta love bullet points):
  • Know how to prioritize your work and complete it timely and accurately.
  • Prepare business and individual tax returns; may do some bookkeeping.
  • Keep up with tax changes and industry standards by continuing education; professional associations and professional periodicals.
  • Be able to communicate effectively both written and orally.
  • Develop and maintain excellent client relationships as well as with your coworkers.
  • Represent Bell & Company in a professional and positive way at networking or other professional events.
  • Assist in training other Staff Accountants as needed.
  • And several other things that thereโ€™s not enough space to add here.

So, what are we looking for in a qualified candidate?
If you are a licensed CPA then you already possess the educational qualifications we require. However, we also require at least 3 years (more is better) of recent public accounting experience. We are looking for someone who is professional, positive, and dependable. We also look for someone who knows Word, Excel, Adobe, UltraTax, PracticeCS, Engagement, Quickbook โ€“ desk top and online. And, just a nice person who can work independently and collaboratively.

What about salary and benefits?
Depending upon your experience and whether or not you hold an active CPA license will determine the opening for which you are qualified.

As part of your total compensation package, we offer a compliment of benefits to include paid holidays, paid time off (PTO), paid health/dental/vision insurance plus more. Salary for Staff Accountants range from $60,000-$90,000+ (with a CPA).ย  If you have the license and the experience, then the starting salary will be higher.

Does this resonate with you?
If after reading this youโ€™re finding yourself nodding yes, then we need to talk. It never hurts to have a conversation. Please go to www.bellandcompany.net/career and hit the APPLY button. There are a handful of questions to answer and then a place to upload your resume. Come onโ€ฆyou know you want to!

(Only qualified candidates will be contacted.)
