  • Location: Natick, MA.
  • Shift: Up to 37 hours per week (hours will vary based on operational needs).

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Cook I to join our food service team at a high-volume dining facility on the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center (NSSC). This entry-level role supports daily kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, maintaining sanitation standards, and ensuring timely meal service for service members and personnel. 

  • Assist with basic food prep tasks such as chopping, mixing, and assembling ingredients. 
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines under supervision. 
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain cleanliness of workstations. 
  • Support food safety and sanitation protocols in compliance with health regulations. 
  • Help receive, label, and store food supplies using FIFO methods. 
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations. 
  • Maintain composure and efficiency during high-volume meal periods. 
  • Perform routine cleaning duties to uphold facility standards. 

What You'll Need to be Successful:
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on experience in a kitchen support role such as Kitchen Assistant, Kitchen Aide, or entry-level Cook. 
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience working in a commercial, institutional, or high-volume kitchen environment. 
  • Basic culinary knowledge and willingness to learn. 
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe preferred). 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. 
  • Basic math skills for measuring and inventory support. 
  • Strong attention to detail and time management.

Physical & Environmental Demands: 
  • The position requires standing for extended periods, with occasional walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
