The Role
GMP is seeking a CAAS Staff Accountant to join our Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS) team in Tyler, Texas. This is an entry-level position designed for accounting professionals who are eager to learn, build strong client relationships, and grow into a long-term career in client advisory services.
The CAAS Staff Accountant will work alongside experienced CAAS Seniors, Controllers, and Partners - gaining hands-on exposure to a wide range of client industries and accounting workflows from day one. This role is the starting point of a clearly defined career path within GMP's CAAS department, with built-in development milestones leading to Senior, Controller, and ultimately Partner-track opportunities.
The CAAS Staff Accountant will:
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping for assigned clients, including transaction coding, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on schedule
  • Prepare monthly client financial reports under the direction of CAAS Seniors
  • Assist with payroll processing, payroll tax filings, and sales and excise tax reports
  • Support month-end close activities and contribute to client financial reporting
  • Maintain organized, accurate client workpapers and documentation that meet firm quality standards
  • Communicate professionally with clients on routine inquiries and requests
  • Apply firm best practices, internal controls, and quality standards consistently across all client work
  • Seek mentorship and feedback from senior team members to accelerate your professional development
  • Use QuickBooks Online and other client accounting platforms proficiently

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (recent graduates welcome)
  • 0-2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related professional experience
  • Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals (debits/credits, general ledger, journal entries)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; comfort working in technology-forward environments
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred, or strong willingness to learn quickly
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in client-facing settings
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute within a collaborative public accounting environment
  • Prior internship experience at a public accounting firm (preferred, but not required)
  • Familiarity with additional accounting platforms (Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Xero) or AI-enabled accounting tools

CPA candidate or active progress toward CPA licensure preferred.
This position is located in Tyler, TX and will require candidates to be local or open to relocation.
