GCEFCU is seeking a highly motivated and experienced VP Controller to join and help lead our Accounting team.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in financial management, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and accuracy.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial reports and related monthly reports. Preparation of monthly financial reports includes balancing and posting various month-end adjustments, verifying general ledger accounts and reconciling bank statements. Analyze and identify trends in products and services. Help with developing budget and forecast for the credit union. Prepare quarterly NCUA 5300 Call Report and Profile.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the department, including payment network activities, accounts payable, fixed assets and general ledgers. Ensures that accounting functions and duties are accurately and promptly completed. Review and approve staff hiring decisions and annual reviews. Ensures Accounting Manager coordinates training for new employees, and provides ongoing coaching and development of accounting staff. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Responsible for investment accounting which includes monthly interest accruals, posting wires, amortization of long-term investments and investments reports. Manage the overall purchase and sale of the loan participations and/or whole loans and monitor portfolio monthly.
  • Works with auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits.
  • Handles Chief Financial Officer duties during the absence of CFO. Responsible to act as and assist with custodian of record requests.
  • Oversee cash management functions of the credit union to ensure cash funds and bank account balances are managed daily.
  • Assists in developing, maintaining, and implementing policies and procedures related to accounting operations.
  • Assist the CFO with the management of CECL.
  • Responsible for identifying reportable transactions under the Bank Secrecy Act, obtaining required information, and reporting transactions. Complies with all Federal Rules and Regulations as required by the NCUA.

Requirements
  • Five to eight years of similar or related experience.
  • This position requires a four year (BA or BS) college degree in Accounting or Finance.
