Job description

The Automotive Parts and Accessories organization with PPG has an excellent opportunity to join its team! The Color Technologist, Entry Level reporting to the Color Team Manager, will prepare color samples for evaluation and formulation in support of the Auto Tiers team. Primary duties include mixing wet paint, spraying paint samples, testing and adjusting color samples, and learning the methodology and art of color formulation. Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all PPG safety protocols and encourage a broad safety culture in a laboratory work environment.
  • Perform formulations of new colors in different topcoat product lines, applying knowledge of chemistry, calculations and color science to develop or modify products.
  • Set up and operate electronic, mechanical or hand-operated laboratory equipment in order to use knowledge of coatings techniques
  • Maintain an accurate electronic notebook. Investigate, duplicate and validate successful procedures, documenting all observations, including unusual results, and communicate results and observations to the direct supervisor, as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field.
  • 1+ years of color experience
  • Must pass a color-blindness test.
