Department: Repairs

Reports To: Repairs Manager

Location: On-site - New Brighton, MN (Minneapolis/Twin Cities Metro)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:00 PM OR 8:00 AM-4:00 PM (flexibility to choose)

Pay: $16.00-$21.00/hr (pay increase post-training & at each performance review + per-device commissions based on repair volume, not sales)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Who This Role Is For

You'll spend most of your day diagnosing, repairing, and refurbishing laptops, Chromebooks, MacBooks, iPads, Surface devices, and desktops. Every repair follows a standard operating procedure, every device gets a quality assurance check, every workspace stays clean.

No technical background needed. Assembly, quality inspection, warehouse work, food production, automotive repair, electronics as a hobby are welcome.

You'll thrive here if you:

Things we'll coach you on:

  • Understanding why each repair step exists, not just what to do
  • Building speed on screen replacements, battery swaps, and component repairs without sacrificing quality

What You'll Do

Repair & Refurbishment

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Chromebooks, MacBooks, Windows laptops, iPads, Surface devices, and desktops. Screen replacements, battery replacements, keyboard repairs, and component swaps
  • Follow QA checklists on every device; review work orders and identify the correct repair path
  • Rotate across Apple, Chromebook, Windows, and Surface platforms as projects shift

Device Provisioning & Deployment

  • Configure, image, stage, and package laptops, Chromebooks, and tablets for delivery to schools and businesses

Documentation

  • Record serial numbers, asset tags, repair notes, and device status in ticketing and inventory systems

Teamwork

  • Keep your bench clean and organized; flag hardware issues, bottlenecks, or quality concerns early

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Reliable transportation to the Twin Cities warehouse location
  • Ability to work on-site Monday-Friday during scheduled shift hours
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow checklists, standard operating procedures, and structured workflows consistently
  • Basic computer literacy (comfortable navigating operating systems, typing, and using web-based tools)
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and sit and stand for periods throughout the shift
  • Manual dexterity for working with small components, hand tools, and delicate electronics

Nice to have but not required

  • Previous experience in a repair, refurbishment, assembly, or quality inspection role
  • Some familiarity with computer hardware whether through prior work, coursework, self-built PCs, hobby repair, or personal tinkering
