Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Help Desk Technician will provide technical support faculty, staff, and students. Customer service is paramount. The position requires someone that is a self-starter and enjoys supporting others through problem resolution and instruction. The technician must learn quickly, take direction well, possess deductive reasoning aptitude, and the desire to assist others in a team environment.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job description satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Provides hardware, software, and peripheral maintenance and support for college staff, faculty, and students.
  • Installs new/replacement computers, peripherals, and phones in accordance with the Information Services Strategic Plan.
  • Installs and updates computer software on student-use computers.
  • Responds to requests in a timely manner.
  • Supports College staff, faculty and students in the use of hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoots problems that occur on computers, both software- and hardware-related.
  • Works closely with the Help Desk Manager on all projects.
  • Assist users with hardware and software as it relates to Klamath Community College
  • Assist users and answer basic questions related to common applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and ideas to individuals.
  • Ability to manage time, communicate clearly and concisely, and document and maintain the organization of their work.
  • Ability to maintain a customer focus in providing technological services to the College's community.
  • Possesses positive and professional outlook, personal integrity, problem solving ability, and ability to handle stress; self-motivated learner.
  • Knowledge of College's operations, needs and goals.
  • Proficient in current Windows operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, client email programs, web browsers, and the like.
  • Ability and willingness to stay current with new technology.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must be a current Klamath Community College student, with related experience in computer support, customer service, desktop computer applications, installing Windows operating systems, and troubleshooting desktop computers, or other related experience.
  • Must be in good academic standing.

Supplemental Information
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Frequently lifts and carries items up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently bends, stoops, and kneels.
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, and use of computers.
  • Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding functions.
