Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing excellent athletic training services to all student-athletes involved in Union University athletics.

The main campus is located in Jackson, Tenn., with additional campuses in Germantown and Hendersonville. Essential Job Duties
  • Educate and mentor students in the foundational best practices of Athletic Training through structured demonstration, application to real-life scenarios at University-sponsored sporting events, and direct, supervised educational experiences at each event.
  • Provides athletic training and medical services for practices and events both home and away for Union University sports teams.
  • Maintains and regulates the use of Union University's Athletic Training Room facilities.
  • Develops, nurtures, and maintains relationships with team physician(s) and other supplemental sports medicine team members.
  • Assists the Head Athletic Trainer in overseeing the provision of health services to Union University's student-athletes.
  • Assists in the coordination, preparation and the administration of pre-season physicals for all athletes.
  • Assists in the administrative responsibilities of the athletic training program.
  • Maintains proper documentation and security of all medical records, ensuring confidentiality of patient/athlete injury information and data.
  • Reacts calmly and effectively in responding to emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as required by the department.
  • Applies appropriate NCAA rules and regulations to the Athletic Trainer role as defined in the NCAA Division II Manual.
  • Make sure that all student-athletes understand NCAA and Gulf South Conference rules and compliance standards.

** Union University is committed to strict compliance with any and all rules and regulations of the NCAA and the Gulf South Conference. An infraction by the employee of any rule or regulation of the NCAA or the Gulf South Conference will render the employee subject to progressive disciplinary action including, but not limited to, immediate termination of employment. Infraction of any rule or regulation of the NCAA or the Gulf South Conference shall include any infraction whatsoever, whether intentional or unintentional.
Required Qualifications
The applicant must be a graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree or entry-level master's degree in athletic training. The successful candidate must have a current BOC certification, be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Tennessee, have a current CPR/AED certification, and have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with a master's degree in athletic training or related field and 1-3 years of experience working, preferably in collegiate athletics.
Christian Requirement
Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University's Identity, Mission, Core Values, and Statement of Faith, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life.
