Job description

ROLE SUMMARY

  • Executes the day-to-day accounting for the construction entity — month-end close, job cost accounting, and WIP maintenance — and supervises the cost analyst. Produces schedules and reporting packages for CFO and President to review.


KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and maintain the monthly WIP schedule and over/under billings; flag variances for CFO review.
  • Execute full-cycle month-end close and produce entity financial statements.
  • Own job cost accounting accuracy across Sage Intacct, Procore, Trimble Pay, and Titanium; reconcile cross-system data.
  • Prepare audit and WIP audit support schedules (CFO handles auditor and surety interaction).
  • Review job cost, billings, and cost-to-complete inputs with project managers; escalate margin issues.
  • Supervise, review, and develop the cost accountant.
  • Coordinate AR/AP, cash, and intercompany activity with holding-company accounting and Treasury.
  • Maintain reconciliations, chart of accounts, and close-process documentation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Intermediate AI skills (co-pilot and Claude)
  • Solid WIP / Percentage-of-Completion and job costing knowledge and experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage many projects and hit deadlines
  • Ability to critically think through and analyze data
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Must be able to follow written or oral instructions


EDUCATION

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related field, or applicable work experience


EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years of experience.
  • Previous experience in Sage Intacct, ProCore, Trimble Pay, and Timberscan a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • May require periods of overnight travel.
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project demands.
