Position Summary: The CFD Modeler II is responsible for developing and running computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models to simulate building systems for various building types in the built environment. This role includes supporting the preparation of detailed simulation reports and providing input around data-driven recommendations to support design and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support gathering and validating all necessary data and information required for accurate CFD model development from internal and third-party project teams.
  • Participate in selection of the appropriate CFD tools for distinct types of simulations based on project requirements.
  • Develop and run 3D CFD models for Mission Critical data center projects simulating internal and external conditions.as well as healthcare, research labs, and large venues.
  • Monitor CFD model convergence, troubleshoot and revise CFD models with assistance from senior modeler(s) when simulations fail.
  • Contribute to analysis of simulation results and support the preparation of comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommendations.
  • Use scripting and automation (e.g., Python, C++) to enhance modeling workflows and accuracy.
  • Aide in business development or pursuit activities.
  • Participate in client, company, and/or industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Foster a client-centric mindset and approach.
  • Communicate with clients as needed for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work. Maintaining proactive communication throughout the project cycle.
  • Answer questions from clients and architects.
  • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
  • Participate in resolving conflicts involving owners, architects and contractors as needed.
  • Identify and seek to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a continuous basis.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Products. Acts as a resource for training or assisting others as needed.
  • Research and review new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards.
  • Understand and apply Henderson's design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Support team goals by working with leadership on development efforts.
  • Perform a limited range of project management responsibilities under the supervision of experienced managers.
  • May support or be responsible for project coordination activities such as managing emails, coordinating scope and schedule, attending client meetings, ensuring project quality, responding to client questions, and coordinating project delivery.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field required.
  • Baseline knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, and Building Mechanical Systems required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in CFD modeling and mechanical design required.
  • Demonstrated experience in using CFD analysis software (Fluent, Cadence Reality DC, or STAR CCM+) required.
  • Experience in programming languages such as C#, C++, or Python preferred.
  • Experience in data center and mission-critical projects preferred.
  • Familiar with CFD analysis of various facility types, including healthcare, research labs, and large venues is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
  • Ability to perform quality work within deadlines.
  • Effective communication and analytical skills with a commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes.
  • Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards required. Knowledge applicable to a range of practices, project or program types preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu preferred.
  • Team oriented and willingness and ability to function in a highly collaborative environment, in group projects. Ability to also work independently as needed.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional travel may be required (10-15%).
