Job description

Finance & Payroll Manager

Chick-fil-A Gateway - Lane County, OR

"Be part of Lane County's Most Caring Company - where great food is only the beginning."

Why this role matters

Payroll has to run cleanly every two weeks. The hours worked have to reconcile with the hours claimed to have been worked. Numbers tell stories and you will help ensure the story matches reality. The receipts, AP, and monthly close work have to happen on time. This is the person who owns all of that, plus 10 hours a week on the floor with the team whose work the numbers represent.

What you'll get to do:

Lead

  • Give coaching feedback to directors when punch patterns show up in the data
  • Build receipt-collection discipline into the team so the paper trail is clean
  • Live our core values: Service, Growth, Fun, Community, Excellence

Maintain

  • Process weekly payroll on time and without errors
  • Manage punch edits, missed clock-outs, and the data integrity behind labor cost reporting
  • Administer PTO, Oregon paid sick leave accruals, vacation tracking, and time-off requests
  • Process AP, vendor payments, and receipts with discipline
  • Support monthly close: bank reconciliation, expense categorization, and partnership with our outsourced accounting team

Optimize

  • Catch wage drift, overtime accumulation, and rate-change errors before they show up in a quarterly review
  • Spend 10 hours a week on the floor working alongside the operations team

About this seat

This is a back-office role with real floor time built in. The financial operations work is what you'd own day-to-day, but the 10 hours of floor time each week is what keeps you connected to the business you're supporting. You'd know the people whose punches you're processing. You'd see the work the labor numbers represent.

Who you are

Preferred Professional Background:

  • Prior payroll, Accounts Payable or bookkeeping experience in a small-to-medium business - restaurant, retail, hospitality, or similar
  • Experience with payroll systems, time-clock software, and reconciliation work
  • Compliance, audit, or operations administration backgrounds also translate well
  • Majored in HR or Accounting

Both profiles need:

  • An eye for numbers that don't tie out, with the discipline to fix things before anyone asks
  • Discretion with sensitive information (pay rates, time-off reasons, performance patterns)
  • Organization to run a weekly and monthly calendar reliably
  • Comfortable spending real time on the operations floor each week
  • Able to commit to a Full-Time schedule with 10 hours weekly on the operations floor (no Sundays)

What's in it for you

  • Starting at $25/hour with experience-based ranges; reviewed every 6 months
  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k)
  • Up to $25K in annual scholarships and leadership travel to the CFA Support Center in Atlanta
  • Sundays off, predictable scheduling, free shift meals, and a people-first culture
  • Real ownership of a manager-level scorecard from day one
  • For new graduates: faster ramp into real responsibility than most entry-level corporate jobs offer
  • For experienced professionals: tighter operational loop with one business instead of ten

"Food is essential to life; therefore, make it good." - S. Truett Cathy

Benefits

  • Flexible schedule
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Employee discount
  • Paid training
  • Monthly Bonus Opportunities
