Job Description:
The Accountant II performs professional accounting responsibilities and supports the accurate and timely preparation of financial information, reconciliations, and reporting activities. This role contributes to departmental objectives by analyzing financial data, resolving accounting issues, and ensuring compliance with established accounting principles, policies, and procedures. The position operates with greater independence than entry-level accounting roles and may provide guidance and support to less experienced team members. The Accountant II collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to improve processes, support audits, and enhance the quality and reliability of financial reporting.
Primary Duties:
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries and other accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Perform account reconciliations, analyze variances, and investigate discrepancies to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
  • Prepare financial analyses, schedules, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting needs.
  • Assist with audit activities by providing documentation, explanations, and responses to audit inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the implementation of enhanced accounting practices and controls.
  • Collaborate with accounting, finance, and operational teams to address accounting matters and support business objectives.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze financial transactions and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Support internal and external audit activities and compliance requirements.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to less experienced accounting staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline;
  • 2+ years of accounting, finance, or related experience, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation or progress toward a professional accounting certification.
  • Experience supporting month-end close, financial reporting, and audit activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting practices, and account reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify trends, and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and financial compliance requirements.
