What You Will Do
  • Academic Advisors help students achieve their educational goals by providing personalized academic planning, guidance on degree requirements, and ongoing support to promote retention and success. Their responsibilities include assisting with course selection, monitoring academic progress, identifying and supporting at-risk students, interpreting university policies and connecting students with campus resources.
  • Academic Advisor Level 1 professionals are entry level academic advisors who are developing base level knowledge and skills to assist students in achieving their academic and career related goals.
  • Academic Advisors at Level 2 are experienced academic advisors continuing to develop their knowledge, skills and practice in assisting students with their academic and career related goals.
  • These roles benefits both students and the University by supporting student enrollment, persistence, and timely progress toward degree completion and career goals.

Salary Information:
Academic Advisor I - $42,500.00
Academic Advisor II - $45,500.00
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Academic Advisor I Master's Degree
Academic Advisor II Master's Degree + 2 Years of Experience
A Master's degree is required.
For Academic Advisor II, at least two years of direct advising experience is required.
Knowledge of college student development, academic advising theory and the college environment is required. Knowledge of student support services available to college students is required. Ability to demonstrate good communication skills and personal rapport with diverse populations is required. Ability to use computerized student information systems and personal computing software is required. Prefer applicants who are genuinely interested in academic advising and assisting college students with their academic and career related goals. Prefer candidates with experience assisting graduate students with adjusting to graduate level academic expectations. Prefer candidates who demonstrate a concerned and caring attitude toward graduate students.
