Nucor Buildings Group is seeking detail-oriented candidates for the position of Steel Detailer/ BIM Modeler. This full-time role is responsible for drafting all components of a custom metal building including the steel framing, wall panel systems, roof panel systems, and all associated flashings and trims to ensure all components fit together correctly as part of a complete design solution
Basic Job Functions:
  • Create 3D Models of Custom-Building Systems: Use advanced 3D drafting software to model structural steel framing, wall systems, roof systems, and associated trim to ensure all parts fit seamlessly together.
  • Produce Erection Drawings & Material Lists: Generate accurate, construction-ready erection drawings and bills of materials using AutoCAD and/or Tekla, ensuring field crews have what they need for efficient builds.
  • Develop Shop Drawings for Fabricarion: Create detailed fabrication reports and shop drawings used by our in-house production teams to build structural components with precision.
  • Review & Check Detailing Work: After initial training, assist in quality checking the work of other detailers from simple to complex projects to maintain high accuracy and design intergrity.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to visualize in a 3D environment.
  • High school or General Equivalent Diploma.
  • Must be seeking full-time employment, No part-time roles available at this time.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Accredited training, certification, or professional experience operating.
  • Architectural CAD software or 3D Modeling software.
