Job description

DESCRIPTION
A chain is only as strong as each link within it. Similarly, it is imperative that the Heart of the House (HOH) team member operates with the same goal in mind, which is satisfying the guest. The HOH team members are involved with every facet of food preparation, as well as the final presentation as it is to be delivered to the guest. Their importance cannot be overstated.
The roles of the Heart of the House (Kitchen team members) are intended to be relatively interchangeable. The goal is to have HOH staff trained and competent to rotate through Cheese, Chocolate, Entrée, and Salad. HOH staff will remain clean & polished, rotating positions each day for quick transition and in order to maintain a high level of execution and quality for the kitchen areas. The dish person(s) is ensuring that process in his/her area is being maintained around smallware's (plates, utensils, pots, glasses, etc.) in order to provide timely changeover of items back into circulation for use by service staff and guests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows and reinforces Melting Pot culture around the MVP card and Perfect Night Out.
- Practices teamwork by communicating with and assisting all members of the restaurant team, promoting positive interaction between all team members.
- Adheres to and maintains company policies and standards, complying with uniform standards, appearance and grooming best practices and federal, state, and local laws and guidelines concerning alcoholic beverages and food safety.
- Follows all of the company's specifications and procedures to ensure Exceptional Food. Follows all food rotation and re-stocking procedures using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method. Follows and uses all food safety procedures and logs.
- Uses checklists to ensure proper set-up and close down of each shift and effective time management.
- Immediately documents and reports repairs and maintenance issues.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform all job responsibilities. The items listed in the position profile are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Food safety certification recommended.
