Job Description

The Business & Legal Affairs Department supports the various business units of NBCU Telemundo Enterprises principally in the areas of content acquisition, development, production, licensing and distribution.

The Business & Legal Affairs Paralegal will support the SVP, Business & Legal Affairs and other attorneys in the department.

Responsibilities

  • Completing form agreements, schedules, and other documentation under an attorney’s supervision.
  • Negotiating and/or drafting basic agreements/legal documents under an attorney’s supervision, including but not limited to talent agreements; production term sheets; clip license agreements; acquisition deal memos and agreements; vendor agreements; amendments; etc.
  • Managing the clearances of photographs and videos necessary for unscripted and or special programming.
  • Preparing reports, summaries, memos and analyses of agreements and other matters.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting agreements and providing accurate, comprehensive, and detailed summaries.
  • Updating and maintaining schedules, agreement templates, tracking agreements/deals in progress, securing signatures of contracts, review of production deliverables, and the management of electronic databases/systems.
  • Maintaining and updating data on contract trackers including but not limited to talent agreements, programming rights analysis, vendor agreements; etc.
  • Assisting in production of documents for attorneys (status reports, research, summaries, due diligence requests, notices, correspondence, etc.).
  • Preparing and maintaining records, reports, and documents for compliance purposes.
  • Performing administrative tasks, team meetings coordination, and handling other assignments at the direction of Business & Legal Affairs attorneys.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Paralegal (production background a plus).
  • College degree with a Paralegal certificate (or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish).

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to work late evenings, and occasional holidays or weekends per business need.

Additional Requirements
