Business Office Intern
As a supporting member of Berkeley’s Business Office reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Business Office Intern will support Business Office operations through managing school-wide purchase orders, placing orders, assisting with accounts payable, and helping the Treasure Cove, the school spirit store, with merchandising, billing, and guest interactions. This position is a part-time position for 20-24 weekly hours and will operate on the school’s academic calendar. This internship will provide hands on experience in accounting operations, purchasing, retail operations, customer service, and business administration within an independent school environment.
The ideal candidate will be a focused, self-motivated, and positive individual who will also be flexible, eager to learn, creative, and engaged. The duties and responsibilities outlined below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform this job.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the school’s purchase order system by creating purchase orders, placing orders with vendors, tracking orders, and processing returns
  • Assist accounts payable processes with creating journal entries and administrative tasks
  • Learn and utilize school purchasing, accounting, and point of sale software
  • Serve as support to the Treasure Cove by:
    • Restocking merchandise and snacks within store
    • Ordering, receiving, and tagging prices on merchandise
    • Processing in store and online orders
    • Answering customers’ questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise
    • Operating a heat-press for vinyl transfers
    • Designing signage for within store
    • Performing physical inventories
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Controller or Treasure Cove Manager
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Customer service experience
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as a departmental manual
  • Ability to speak politely and effectively with colleagues, students and guests
  • Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, knowledge of Lightspeed, Cadworx, a plus
Compensation and Benefits:
The appointment will begin in July 2026 and is a part-time position.
