Chena Hot Springs Resort is now hiring for an exciting new position: Aurora Viewing Tour Guide(AKA SUSV Driver/Snow coach Driver) - STARTING 8/10/26

We are looking to add to our team! Looking for hardworking individuals up for the experience of a lifetime in Alaska country. Our rustic resort, founded in 1905 has grown incredibly over the years leading to new-found growth and opportunities. The resort is home to the hot springs and continues to welcome people from all over the world to bathe in the curative powers of the hot waters. The Resort is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Fairbanks, accessed year-round on a State maintained road via Chena Hot Springs Road. Also, at the resort you’ll find sustainable green initiatives like our greenhouse and Geothermal power plant; our on-site tours include dog sledding, Aurora Viewing tours, ATV rides, horseback riding, massage, and more!

Job Description






  • Greet guests nightly in the Activity Center and check them in for their tours
  • Explain basic tour rules to guests and help them into all-terrain vehicles called “SUS-V”
  • Drive safely up a trail to our Aurora lookout and show guests into the heated yurts
  • Serve drinks and snacks to guests, and entertain them while waiting for the Aurora to show
  • Explain facts about Alaska and the Northern Lights, teach guests how to take pictures of the Aurora, and offer to help take group photos
  • Keep the SUSV clean inside and out and report any mechanical issues to the mechanic team.
  • Keep snack and drink items in stock and rotate for freshness.
  • Be able to start and maintain a fire and a propane heater.
  • Be able to fill propane tanks.
  • Haul fresh drinking water in large container(60 pounds)
  • Be able to take out the trash and empty the outhouses of human waste.
  • The SUSV driver also performs the role of the Yurt Attendant when necessary. This job is less driving and more focusing on the guests.

  • Physical strength and stamina to work extended periods standing up
  • Ability to keep safety at the forefront of all aspects of the tours
  • Job is fit for a night-owl, and someone willing to work a minimum of six nights a week
  • Requires living on the property at Chena Hot Springs Resort.
  • Must be able to check fluids on a vehicle and do walk arounds/safety checks.

  • Prior hospitality experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED Certificate
