Job description

Overview

The Enteral Technician is responsible for performing key administrative and technical functions related to enteral nutrition services, including verifying insurance eligibility, ensuring chart compliance, and coordinating the accurate dispensing of enteral formula and supplies. This position plays a vital role in both the onboarding process and the ongoing care of patients, supporting seamless service delivery and contributing to positive patient outcomes. As a critical member of the enteral team, the technician ensures timely, compliant, and patient-focused support across all phases of care.

Schedule: Mon-Fri Remote


Responsibilities

  • Conducts benefits investigations for all new patients and existing patients with insurance changes to determine coverage for enteral nutrition products and services
  • Ensures all required documentation—including initial and ongoing forms—is accurately completed, clearly legible, and filed in the patient chart in accordance with Amerita’s Enteral Nutrition Requirements
  • Coordinates and schedules the timely dispensing of enteral formulas and supplies; actively manages inventory and patient support throughout the course of care
  • Obtains and documents patient supply inventories and compliance updates and communicates relevant information to appropriate clinical and operational teams
  • Monitors and follows up on active insurance authorizations, physician orders, clinical documentation, and outstanding paperwork to ensure continuity of care
  • Triages patient concerns and routes to clinical staff as needed, using established screening protocols
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings, branch operations and quality improvement initiatives as assigned
  • Complies with all applicable Accreditation, OSHA, FDA, state, local and federal regulations related to infusion pharmacy and home medical equipment
  • Supervisory Responsibility: No


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required; some college or technical training (Pharmacy or Dietetic Technician) preferred
  • 1-3 years of related experience in a home care or hospital setting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Effective mathematical and communication skills required
  • At least 1 year of experience in enteral nutrition service in a hospital or home infusion setting
  • General knowledge of enteral feeding terminology, enteral nutrition products and supplies
  • Ability to work independently, accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work with all levels of management and staff, vast knowledge of pharmacy terminology and process

  • Ability to multitask in a demanding environment

  • Excellent organizational skills and mindfulness

**To perform this role will require constant sitting and typing on a keyboard with fingers, and ocassionally standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching and stooping. The physical requirements will be the ability push/pull and lift/carry 10-30 lbs**
