- Cover story assignments as assigned by the section editor.
- Cover beats if assigned.
- Research and write articles, including setting up interviews and interviewing sources and writing stories.
- Meet deadlines for stories.
- Submit stories to the newspaper using the process determined by the section editor.
- Communicate regularly with the assigned section editor(s).
- Attend any and all staff meetings.
- Perform any duties called for to ensure the student newspaper accomplishes its mission.
