Job description

To expand our current product line, the Rotron division of AMETEK Aerospace and Defense is currently looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Engineering Manager to work in the Woodstock, NY facility. Rotron is a leading supplier of AC/DC motors, fans, blowers, fault detection devices and power-converters to the Defense and Commercial Aerospace industries. Along with solid engineering capabilities and technical experience. The candidate should understand aerodynamic machinery design. Product requirements include aerodynamic, acoustic, and structural design to support new product development as part of our technology road map. Candidates will handle leading the engineering design team, including driving design philosophy to meet our goals and objectives. Striving for the best design approach to meet our customer specifications while driving continuous product improvement. AMETEK Aerospace & Defense is a leading manufacturer of highly engineered systems, including thermal management systems, environmental control systems, engine sensor suites, airborne data management & monitoring, and an array of power distribution products.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm, additional hours as needed.

Position reports to: Director of Engineering

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Team of 8 - 15 individuals. Comprised of Electrical, Mechanical, and Aeronautical engineers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advance the technological position with innovative technology integration and design for modular reusability.
  • Work with electrical, application, and mechanical engineers to conceive new products.
  • Support the development projects CFD, FEA and other analysis and design tools.
  • Working with internal business development and sales to fully define product requirements.
  • Manage analysis effectively to minimize qualification risks while reducing design time.
  • Manage the engineering team on a variety of design and development activities required to optimize product performance and manufacturability.
  • Part of leadership team responsible for advancement of our technological position by driving the focus on elegance and simplicity in electromechanical design configurations to meet challenging technical requirements.
  • Communicates and performs presentations to all levels of management.
  • Recommend innovative technologies to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction on aerodynamic, acoustic, and structural matters on day-to-day engineering problems faced by members of the engineering team.
  • Create engineering analysis, test plans, and technical reports.
