Job description

Pay Range: $130,000 - $160,000 / year

Our team manages the full lifecycle from application engineering and 3D design to structural fabrication, wiring and piping, sound and thermal management, code compliance, factory acceptance testing, and site support. With scalable production capacity and disciplined program management, PSI delivers repeatable quality and reliable performance on complex builds for mission-critical and industrial applications worldwide.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to the Engineering Department. This position oversees all aspects of engineering activities, including product development, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The Engineering Manager ensures that engineering projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable standards and customer requirements. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to cultivate a high-performing, collaborative team culture.

Essential Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Development

  • Hire, train, mentor, and develop engineering staff to achieve professional growth and departmental objectives.
  • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and development plans aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Technical Oversight and Project Management

  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to specifications, budgets, and schedules.
  • Provide guidance and direction on complex technical issues, design reviews, and problem resolution.
  • Ensure effective project management practices, including scope definition, resource allocation, and risk management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between Engineering and other departments, including Product Management, Operations, Quality, and Sales.
  • Facilitate clear communication to align technical objectives with business goals and customer needs.
  • Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions as required.

Process Improvement and Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Lead initiatives to drive operational efficiency, product quality, and cost optimization.
  • Promote the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety within the Engineering Department.

Reporting and Administration

  • Prepare and present status reports, metrics, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support strategic initiatives and organizational growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
  • 7 plus years of progressive engineering experience, including 3 plus years in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex projects.
  • Strong technical expertise in [relevant discipline or industry, e.g., mechanical systems design, power generation, electronics].
  • Proficient in engineering project management tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment (e.g., ISO, ASME, UL compliance).
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools, data acquisition systems, or relevant engineering software platforms.
