Job DescriptionOverview

The Engineering Services Division is currently looking for a Fire Protection Project Manager to support various projects across Canada. Our team focuses on major infrastructure projects in nuclear, defence, industrial and other markets. We are looking for innovative, critical thinking people who enjoy the challenge to apply the principles of fire safety science to the built environment. This is a client facing role that requires excellent communication and project management skills.

Your role
  • Lead project teams, work with, effectively delegate to and coach Junior team members to deliver effective results.

  • Develop and manage fire protection engineering projects or design deliverables for assigned projects, including site inspections, report writing, design and construction administration.

  • Supporting and leading business development activities for the fire protection engineering group, client facing individual.

  • Developing, monitoring and maintaining project schedule and budget for fire protection engineering design deliverables. Ensure the quality and consistency, accuracy, and neatness of fire protection engineering and deliverables as part of corporate QA/QC program.

  • Perform site investigations safely including travelling to site (including driving), walking around construction sites and industrial facilities and committing to safety regulations and requirements.

  • Participate in local and corporate sustainability initiatives to positively advance both corporate and industry developments.

  • Use software tools such as Microsoft Office and construction website portals to prepare deliverables as required.

About you
  • University degree or diploma in fire protection engineering or Red Seal Endorsement (RSE) or Certification from a nationally recognized skilled trade.

  • PMP or CAPM certificate through the Project Management Institute is an asset. Completion of CAPM certification will be required within first year of employment.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in fire protection industry. Must have experience in fire alarm, fire suppression design for buildings, including utilization of applicable codes, standards, and design tools.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills to develop a solution and be able to communicate it effectively with teammates, other disciplines, subcontractors, project managers and clients.

  • Established reputation with local Buildings Officials and Fire Protection Industry.

  • Has a desire to grow their career by progressively taking on more leadership responsibilities.
