Job description

Aviya Aerospace Systems is a leader in engineering services and solutions for mission critical Aerospace and Defense applications.  Aviya provides expertise in program management, systems, software, mechanical, and hardware engineering to many of the top-tier Aerospace and Defense Contractors. Aviya has an opening for a Project Engineer/Manager to join our engineering group in Mississauga, Ontario.

Specific Position Duties
  • Responsible for providing technical solution definition and development of all phases of engineering projects including concept definition, requirement development, architecture design, implementation, verification and validation and maintenance planning.
  • Accountable for the technical scope, project schedule, outcome and on-time delivery of each engineering project and own the schedule and assigned project budget from start to finish.
  • Communicate requirements for execution from an engineering project scope while providing updates to engineering manager and department project manager.
  • Prepare project status reports for engineering manager, department project manager, project stakeholders and customers.
  • Maintain oversight into supplier contracts when necessary.
  • Lead and coordinate regular project IPT meetings for Hardware and Software product delivery projects and conduct RAIL reviews.
  • Ensure PDRS compliance, and development and validation of technical project stakeholder requirements.
  • Collaborate with other engineering groups, engine program managers and departments. 
  • Integrate and maintain resource usage metrics between project deliverables and delivery of technical tasks within the engineering team.
  • Lead new development requirements and support new engine programs and service enablement.
  • Emphasize project risks, change requests and/or find possible solutions ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Conduct continuous process optimization initiatives and support development and update of project management best practices and standards.
Qualifications for Position
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering. Certification in Project Management is required.
  • 5-10 years of technical experience with project engineering in the field of aviation concentrating on system software design, development and certification.
  • Certification in Project Management with proven program/project management experience.
  • Experience with Agile development standards and use of Azure DevOps and Confluence collaboration tools.
  • Extensive experience with MS Office applications including MS Projects for resource and earned value management.
  • Experience in aircraft engine performance and operability analysis is a huge plus.
  • Experience in engine control systems, avionics system design, development and aircraft integration is a huge plus.
  • Extensive management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and highly motivated with effective problem-solving skills and collaborative with strong teamwork skills.
  • Proficient in handling several analytical tasks concurrently.
  • Expertise in engine life cycle management including steps involved in entry into service is a huge plus.
  • Experience with leading technical coordination efforts on a multi-disciplinary level.
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills.
  • Strong oral and written French communication skills is a huge plus.
