Project Manager/ Senior Project Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to lead multiple civil engineering projects from conception through successful completion. This role combines strategic project leadership with hands-on technical expertise, requiring someone who can manage complex projects while mentoring teams and cultivating strong client relationships. Reporting to a Managing Director or Director, you'll have the autonomy to make critical engineering decisions while overseeing project schedules, budgets, and delivery excellence across diverse civil engineering assignments.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead multiple civil engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Develop comprehensive project schedules, work plans, budgets, and technical proposals
  • Monitor project performance including progress tracking, milestone completion, invoicing, and financial health
  • Make independent decisions on engineering matters within your area of technical expertise
  • Identify and mitigate project risks to maintain productivity and quality standards
Client Relations & Business Development
  • Drive marketing and business development efforts through proposal preparation, client interviews, and relationship building
  • Maintain strong client partnerships through proactive communication, problem-solving, and exceptional service delivery
  • Serve as the primary client point of contact, ensuring clear communication and superior project outcomes
Technical Excellence & Quality Assurance

  • Initiate, review, and manage development of engineering drawings, design plans, and construction documents

  • Maintain technical integrity and accurate documentation throughout all project phases
Team Development & Leadership
  • Provide direct supervision of engineers, designers, technicians, and support personnel
  • Communicate project expectations, scope, and requirements clearly to team members and consultants
  • Mentor and develop junior staff through guidance, performance management, and technical coaching
  • Foster a collaborative team environment aligned with organizational policies, procedures, and mission
  • Assign tasks strategically and manage team workloads to optimize project delivery
Resource & Schedule Management
  • Track and manage project resources, schedules, workloads, and deliverables effectively
  • Ensure teams understand priorities and execute against project milestones
  • Coordinate across multiple projects to balance resource allocation and maintain delivery excellence

Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive civil engineering and project management experience (10-15 years as a PM with experience managing a small team. You'll be a department lead within the office)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment (PE required for Senior PM role)
Technical Expertise
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, technical specifications, and building codes
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software including:
  • Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Project
  • Hydroflow or related hydrology/hydraulics software
