Position Overview

Kimball Solutions is a Medical Device Contract Manufacturer in Indianapolis, IN and we are looking for a dynamic and influential Engineering Manager who embodies both technical mastery and strong leadership presence. This role is ideal for someone who can command a room, coach a team, and lead with a balance of humor, firmness, and empathy. The ideal candidate is a respected figure - part mentor, part enforcer - who inspires excellence and accountability. This role will report directly to the General Manager and plays an integral part of the plant's senior leadership. You will focus on developing, implementing, and maximizing the utilization of people, processes, systems, software, and technology for continuous, measurable improvements in every area of the engineering organization. The Engineering Manager is directly responsible for the molding process engineering, assembly/NPI engineering and automation engineering.

Basic Background Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum 5 years' experience in engineering leadership with demonstrated level of progression in your career within a highly regulated environment.

Excellent knowledge of lean manufacturing and six sigma with extensive experience implementing it throughout both manufacturing and engineering environments.

Excellent knowledge of ERP, production scheduling, cycle times, takt times, touch times, yields, kanbans, and how each of these impact engineering operations.

Mastery of Microsoft products including MS Project and project planning.

Ability to drive root cause issues and corrective actions being implemented to resolve or provide continuous improvements.

Ability to successfully coach, mentor and teach teams.

Strive for 100% say do ratio.

Key Performance Objectives

Short Term: (0 to 3 months)

  • Learn about Kimball Vision and Guiding Principles.

  • Learn the systems to understand and be able to communicate to all levels of the organization.

  • Develop solid relationships with internal customers and external customers.

  • Learn our Quality System and SOP requirements.

Midterm: (3 to 6 months)

  • Provide coaching, mentorship and training to our engineering staff.

  • Become Familiar with Customers, Products, Processes, and Management.

  • Act as a liaison with other departments providing cross functional help for all things engineering.

  • Expand teamwork; maximize Kimball Solutions as the employer of choice.

Long Term: 6-12 months +

  • Implement changes or enhancements.

  • Create a strategy on how you will meet the goal to deliver great engineering results while encompassing new product introductions, sustaining engineering, smart factory and continuous improvements.

  • Responsible for planning, review and providing recommendations for all things engineering.
