About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineering Department Manager to lead our electrical engineering team and drive technical excellence, project delivery, and business growth. This is a high-impact leadership role for a technical expert who thrives in a client-facing consulting environment and is passionate about mentoring engineers and delivering innovative solutions.

There is one position open that will be located in either Granite Falls, MN or Greenville, SC.

Specific Responsibilities include

  • Serve as a technical authority on industrial electrical engineering projects.
  • Responsible for all electrical design requirements on a single project from concept through construction.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers, fostering professional growth.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with clients and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development of electrical design documents including:
    • Control schematics, wiring diagrams, power/conduit plans, cable schedules.
    • Equipment specifications for 15 KV, 4160 V, 480 V, substations, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, switchgears.
    • Lighting and grounding systems, equipment layouts, single-line and motor diagrams.
    • Process control loop sheets, cable tray routing, cost estimates, and design proposals.
    • Short Circuit and Arc Flash analysis.
  • Ensure QA/QC compliance with safety standards and regulatory codes (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC).
  • Drive business development by cultivating client relationships and securing new project work.
  • Represent Larson at industry events and client meetings as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Support recruiting and retention of top engineering talent.
  • Provide field assessments and construction support as needed.
  • Champion process improvements and standardization of design tools and practices.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in industrial electrical design.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership or department management role.
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) License required.
  • Proven success in team leadership, mentorship, and client engagement.
  • Expertise in power, energy, biofuels, oil & gas, pulp & paper, or similar process industries.
  • Desired proficiency in ETAP, AutoCAD, NavisWorks (BIM 360)
  • Strong project management skills including budgeting and scheduling.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a growth-oriented, client-first approach.
