Data Engineer Internship

12-week summer internship starting in June 2026

As a member of the Platform Technology team, our Data Engineer Interns work side by side with experienced engineers on automation initiatives spanning ETL, data pipeline orchestration, CI/CD, and AI - all in service of creating an economically sustainable health care system.

What You Bring to Cambia

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a master's or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field, with completion of at least 1 year of undergraduate studies

  • No prior work experience required; demonstrated interest in Data Engineering, AI, and analytics through coursework or personal projects is preferred

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Basic understanding of software engineering, data analysis, and business intelligence concepts

  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and approaches

  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities

  • Basic to intermediate programming or scripting knowledge, including SQL, Python, Python Pandas, YAML, Bash, Snowflake, Streamlit, Sigma, Python-based microservices, and AWS

  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts (e.g., Kimball methodology)

  • Experience with AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making in professional settings highly desired

  • Familiarity with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts

  • Ability to predict cost of compute across proposed execution steps

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Previous exposure to building scalable data solutions applying best data structures and algorithms principles

  • Experience with AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making in professional settings highly desired

What You Will Do at Cambia

  • Evaluate open-source software solutions or vendor products within the Snowflake ecosystem to drive departmental productivity and reduce cloud compute costs

  • Research and evaluate relevant Snowflake product features as they relate to day-to-day data engineering work

  • Assist in developing and testing data orchestration pipelines utilizing Apache Airflow

  • Help build Snowflake data replication and cloning capabilities

  • Assist in developing and testing various ETL pipelines

  • Help identify AI Agent solutions for data access management capabilities and assist in building CI/CD pipelines to automate data engineering code deployment

  • Document findings, create proof-of-concept demonstrations, and collaborate with team members on solution design and various Data Engineering projects

This is a temporary, non-benefitted position. The base salary range is $32 - $40/hour, depending on experience.
