Job description

SUMMARY:

Provides assistance to Industrial Engineers in resolving process and/or equipment problems. Works with production to resolve manufacturing problems to ensure that process specifications are followed. Run engineering tests and experiments; collects data; reports results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures compliance with safety and housekeeping practices, company policies and procedures
  • Provides assistance to Industrial Engineers in resolving process and/or equipment problems
  • Actively participate in lean/5S/continuous improvement/ cost savings activities related to the facility as needed across the plant
  • Plan, run and test experiments as requested by supervisor
  • Collect and summarize data, generate reports for supervisor
  • Write memos, technical reports and process specification revisions.
  • Confers with operations to observe, inspect machinery determining root causes of malfunction while performing diagnostic checks
  • Work from diagrams, schematics, prints, work orders, and comply with specifications as required, use all tools and measuring instruments familiar to the trade
  • Write and update work instructions, BOM’s and provide assistance in time studies and routings
  • Assists in planning, oversight, and completion of projects, overseeing progress, and scheduling Work with outside contractors on various plant projects and repairs
  • Conduct audits and assessments to identify potential areas of risk and develop mitigation strategies.  Understand and maintain audit compliance as it relates to the industrial engineering function.  This would include: IATF, ISO, and TISAX.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines established by the company. Encourage safe practices and a safety-first mindset among coworkers.

  • Basic knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology, applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment design
  • Knowledge of raw materials and production processes.
  • Ability to use hand tools, strong math skills, ability to read and edit blueprints, and perform SPC charting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Employee must have working knowledge of manufacturing environment. Must be self-motivated and possess well developed leadership skills.

  • 1-3 years in Industrial, Mechanical or related field

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic instructions and required documents.  Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instruction and basic directions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematics.
