Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Assistant is responsible for providing support activities regarding delivery of custom busbar assemblies to our customer base. Busbar is primarily an Engineered-To-Order (ETO) product, which means each customer order is specifically engineered for each customer. This generally leads to higher complexity and variation for departments supporting this product family. The Assistant will be responsible for design documentation, engineering support regarding ERP activities, and BOM management and control using our product life cycle management (PLM) and manufacturing systems.  This role will involve cross functional team support throughout the design and release process with both internal and external stakeholders such as key factory personnel.  The Engineering Assistant will work closely with engineering team members and provide production support as needed regarding ETO assemblies.  Will help assess and find solutions that positively impact production and quality, participates in internal design reviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a liaison between Engineering and Planning to ensure projects are ready for production.
  • Verify and generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the iMPB and HPB product lines, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Create and manage new parts within the IFS (ERP) system for the iMPB and HPB product lines, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
  • Review and verify engineering drawings for accuracy and ensure they are correctly stored in project folders prior to manufacturing.
  • Responsible for documentation methods that ensures high levels of productivity and efficiency.
  • Track Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Deviations through Global Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and processes to ensure timely completion and deployment in multiple regional Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools
  • Review ECOs for completeness and assign applicable tasks to fully process the ECO through the PLM systems
  • Maintain PLM system integrity (adhere to document standards and procedures)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product standardization initiatives
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is preferred.
  • Proven experience and familiarity with the iMPB and HPB Product Lines preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems, particularly IFS.
  • Experience creating and sustaining a structured bills of materials in PLM and ERP systems required.
