Job description

At Optima Engineering, an employee-owned MEP engineering consulting firm, we focus on delivering high-quality mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology design solutions for buildings across the Southeast. Our projects include higher education, municipal, K-12, and commercial facilities. We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team and help us continue to provide thoughtful and efficient designs for our clients.
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience on Mission Critical and Data Centers projects.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of North Carolina or ability to obtain your PE in North Carolina within 6 months.
Responsibilities
  • Provide input on project viability, assist with proposal preparation, and help select the design team.
  • Produce project schedules, lighting, power, and fire alarm designs, compliance checks and specifications, and conduct reviews.
  • Conduct interdisciplinary coordination and manage final reviews/approvals between disciplines and agencies.
  • Assist designers with maintaining conformed drawings, preparing submittals, and issuing revisions.
  • Work in conjunction with the Project Manager, Designers, and Construction Administration Specialist to meet company standards and exceed Client expectations.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
  • Very familiar with SKM, Short circuit and Arc Flash Studies SKM or Easy Power.
  • Commissioning experience in Data Centers
  • UPS and back-up generators
  • Ability to write Test Scripts and Direct Efforts
  • Willing to work some nights and weekends
