Job Overview
We are seeking a new Field Engineer/Assistant Project Manager to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a Field Engineer/Assistant Project Manager, you will join a team of infrastructure solutions experts working to solve our client's ever evolving project needs.This position is based in Chicago, IL, but will be mainly focused on work out in the field at our client's different project sites.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily construction activities and ensure compliance with the project's specifications, timeline and budget
  • Support project teams delivering critical infrastructure work for theChicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) through the Public Building Commission (PBC)
  • Provides essential administrative, tracking and coordination support to ensure the success of transportation projects throughout the city
  • Maintaining detailed records of daily construction operations
  • Addressing and resolving issues that may arise during the construction process
  • Daily interaction with the contractor to ensure project is done on time and at budget
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in engineering technology, construction management, urban planning or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, transportation or administrative coordination
  • Familiarity with public infrastructure or municipal projects, CDOT centric project experience would be ideal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Have a team player mindset with the ability to communicate proficiently in written and verbal forms
  • Have strong attention to detail, time management skills and great organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field
  • Familiarity with City of Chicago departments and permitting processes
  • Experience working in a consultant or government agency environment
  • Experience using project management or document control systems
  • Interest in long-term career development in project management or transportation infrastructure
