Job Title: Roadway Engineer - Transportation

Location: Overland Park (On-site)
Job Type: Full-Time


Overview

We are seeking a Roadway Engineer to join a growing transportation engineering team. This role supports the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects including highways, roadways, bridges, interchanges, and municipal transportation systems.

The ideal candidate will assist with project design, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to delivering high-quality engineering solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.


Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation Design & Engineering
  • Assist with the design and production of transportation projects for DOT, turnpike, county, and municipal agencies

  • Support project managers in all aspects of transportation design, including:

    • Roadway design

    • Bridge design and rehabilitation

    • Drainage systems

    • Traffic control plans

  • Work on projects such as highways, interchanges, rural roads, streets, urban arterials, pavement management, and roundabouts

Project Coordination & Support
  • Provide guidance and technical direction to production staff

  • Assist with project proposals, interviews, and client presentations

  • Attend client meetings and ensure designs meet project objectives and requirements


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • 1-5+ years of experience in transportation projects for DOT, municipal, or county agencies

  • Experience in roadway and/or bridge design

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information appropriately


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Civil 3D or MicroStation platforms (OpenRoads, InRoads, or Geopak)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kansas or ability to obtain licensure

  • Knowledge of local transportation standards and regulatory requirements
