Job description

Job Title: Data Administrator โ€“ Engineering

Location: Metairie, LAย 

Position Overview:ย The Data Administrator, Engineering initiates and perform various administrative duties in support of engineering projects.ย 

Key Responsibilities:

  • ย  ย  ย  ย Interfaces with engineering personnel, regulatory bodies, class societies, vendors, subcontractors, and yard personnel.ย 
  • ย  ย  ย  ย Works with Engineering by organizing and tracking formal deliverables and VFI for all projects.ย 
  • ย  ย  ย  ย Responsible for all job administration and coordination for a project, as a team member and manages all correspondence and data assigned by the Project Engineer.
  • ย  ย  ย  Interface with Engineering, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Purchasing, Accounting, Production Control, and management as required.ย 
  • ย  ย  ย  Maintains and tracks Program Change Documentation (i.e. ECPs, ECRs, TPs, TIs, PTS/SOWs, RFPs, RFVs, GFI/GFIDs)ย 
  • ย  ย  ย  Processes, assembles, and tracks drawing issues, drawing correspondence, drawing comments, deliverable status report, regulatory and class correspondence (including comments), and job-related transmittals.ย 
  • ย  ย  ย  ย Support of CDRL management, submissions, tracking, and reporting if required.ย 
  • ย  ย  ย  ย Provides support to project teams by providing administrative checks and balances to ensure adherence to engineering procedures.ย 
  • ย  ย  ย  ย Assembles and maintains project files within SharePoint.
    Performs data management via IDE site by uploading and downloading data for review and approvals.
  • ย  ย  ย  ย Regulatory body point of contact for postings and retrieval of information necessary for the class approval of each assigned project.ย 
  • ย  ย  ย  Maintains KMS to reflect open and closed liens and required reports in support of weekly status meetings.ย 

Experience:

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Minimum of one (1) year of shipbuilding experience, with recent focus on change, data management, document control and process development.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Knowledge of Ships Work Breakdown Structure (SWBS)ย 

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Knowledge of database administration and maintenance (Microsoft Access, SQL Server or Oracle)

Skills and Abilities:

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Knowledge of general engineering administration and development practices.ย 

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to communicate on all levels with Program Management, Project, Engineering, and Production Personnel to ensure all program requirements are fulfilled in accordance with contractual requirements andย obligations.ย 

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Strong knowledge of general engineering administration practices.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Must be able to gather, organize, collate, and distribute large amounts of data to support managing projects.ย 

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Must be able to prepare presentation materials in support of meetings.ย 

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to work with minimal supervision and on multiple projects required.ย 
Possess intermediate knowledge of using Microsoft Office Suite. Basic AutoCAD skills are desired.ย 

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, customers, and subcontractors including good communication skills oral and written.ย
