Job description

Volunteers are an important part of the Sherrill House community and contribute to the well-being of our residents, patients, families, and staff. Volunteers benefit from the warmth, friendship, and appreciation they receive in return. Volunteers are screened and trained in advance and are connected to an appropriate resident and activity that is mutually beneficial and meaningful. We welcome families, groups, and teenagers looking for service hours – and our residents love therapy animals!


Volunteer opportunities vary, and may include:

  • 1:1 visiting with residents and patients
  • Visiting with certified therapy pets
  • Leading or assisting with recreation activities
  • Assisting with pastoral care programming
  • Attending resident outings such as (The Franklin Park Zoo, Aquarium, Castle Island and more)!
  • Special event support
  • Clerical support
