Martin/Martin, Inc. is looking for structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Structural Engineering Group in our Vail, Colorado office.ย 


This engineer will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of project types with many different structural materials. This position will provide opportunities to gain experience in both new building structural design and existing building investigations and retrofits.


A typical work week can include engineering calculations, drawing development, Construction Administration tasks, and site visits. This position allows for interactions with owners, architects, and contractors early in your career as you build relationships throughout the project life cycle. While many of our projects are located in the Rocky Mountain region, Martin/Martin's national footprint provides opportunities to work on projects around the country.

The Team


Our structural engineering teams provide custom solutions for new constructions and expansions, with a strong record in notable projects like Coors Field, the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, and Harborcenter.


Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and use of computer design and CAD/BIM software
  • Prepares details and calculations for project components and systems
  • Learns about products and construction procedures
  • Prepares and writes reports
  • Provides field observation during construction
  • Studies and applies building code and/or jurisdictional requirements
  • Reviews shop drawings and product submittals
  • Checks own work
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines
  • Acts proactively and proposes potential solutions to problems
  • Works overtime, when necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum in Architectural, Civil, Environmental, Construction, Structural, or related engineering field
  • Has passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination
  • 0-4 years' experience
  • Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to work in the Vail area. Relocation reimbursement may be provided, depending on the role and job function.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum in Architectural, Civil, Structural, or related engineering field.
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Working knowledge of building and material design codes
  • Experience using computer design and graphics software for building structural design and documentation (AutoDesk REVIT, RAM, SAP, ETABS, RISA, etc.)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to client service and a team-based approach
  • Construction field experience
  • Experience programming in Grasshopper, Python, Dynamo, SQL, C#, C++, VBA

Working Conditions, Skills, and Abilities


This position is primarily technical in nature and requires working inside and outside the office to complete a wide range of activities. The following abilities are required:

  • Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
  • Carry, ascend, and descend a ladder
  • Identify color
  • Read, communicate, and document in English
  • Determine and exchange accurate information
  • Occasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

Compensation


The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.ย 

  • Base Salary: For individuals hired in Colorado, a reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $79,000 to $94,000 annually.
  • Accrued Time:ย This is a salaried position with accrued time eligibility.ย Accrued time allows additional compensation or time-off to be earned for any eligible hours worked exceeding 40 hours per week.
  • Base Salary Review: This role is eligible to participate in Martin/Martin's annual base salary increase review process.
  • Annual Bonus: This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary annual bonus program.ย 

Base salary review and increases, in addition to annual bonuses, are dependent on various factors, including a hired individual's job-level and annual company performance.
