Job description

This is NOT a remote/hybrid position and is located at our Virginia Beach Campus location.
The SEO Specialist will work cross-functionally to build the SEO and content strategy as part of ECPI University's overall efforts to enhance brand awareness, engagement and enrollment. He / She will develop and drive the execution of AI-Enhanced Search Optimization initiatives, including classic search rankings, AI answer engines and multimodal (voice, visual) search.
The SEO Specialist will provide expertise and training to relevant teams and develop best practices. The SEO Specialist will also collaborate with partners across the ECPI University Administration and campus locations to develop digital content and marketing plans that are consistent with the University's voice, brand, identity, goals and regulatory bodies.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Develop SEO strategies and be responsible for day-to-day search results across digital platforms
  • Establish an Organic Search scorecard, including search engine rankings, AI results and other relevant experiences and report out regularly
  • Pro-actively audit ECPI's digital properties, research SEO issues and formulate solutions for improving performance
  • Conduct research on searches/ keywords, define opportunities, develop content and drive page/feed optimizations
  • Partner with development and technical teams to adopt SEO technical best practices
  • Monitor SEO developments and search trends to protect ECPI's ranking and identify new opportunities
  • Monitor higher education trends and establish a competitive scorecard

Skills/Qualifications:
  • College degree in Marketing, Communications or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in digital marketing positions, with demonstrated successes leading SEO strategy and traffic growth
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics required (Google Analytics Certification preferred)
  • Experience with SEO tools (Webmaster, keyword research, technical crawlers) required
  • Knowledge of SEO principles, and best practices required
  • Strong writing and editing skills required - Must show flexibility in writing styles, including professional voice and creative approach to website copy/content
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines required
  • Experience in Higher Education vertical is preferred
