KSBW-TV, the Hearst-owned NBC, ABC, and Estrella affiliate serving Monterey, Salinas, Santa Cruz, and all of California's Central Coast is looking for a Creative Services Writer Producer to write, shoot, edit and design promotion for all media platforms. 

 You will collaborate with the marketing and commercial production team to develop, write, produce, and deliver campaign content for broadcast, streaming, paid media, digital, and social platforms. While the job focuses on creativity, the position also requires strong organizational skills from someone who is a responsible self-starter. We are looking for a team player who is passionate about producing attention-grabbing marketing content that cuts through the clutter. You will report to the Creative Services Director.  This position is responsible for writing, shooting, and editing compelling promotion that drives viewers to KSBW Action News 8 and other media platforms that advances our brands in a competitive landscape. This person will creatively execute a variety of news, weather, sports, and entertainment messages and assist in the execution of station events, campaigns, and marketing projects. The Creative Services Writer Producer also collaborates and supports production of a variety of research-driven objectives and goals, as assigned. Through compelling writing, editing, and shooting, candidates will work closely with the news and creative services department to identify the most promotable content and create effective marketing messages that drives viewers to on-air, social, and digital platforms. 

You could work for Hearst Television, one of the most respected multimedia companies, while living in the most beautiful media market in the country. From the dramatic panoramas of Big Sur to the majestic surf and redwood-covered mountains of Santa Cruz, you will be truly inspired by living and working on California's Central Coast. 

Responsibilities:

  • Write, shoot, and edit attention grabbing news topical and image promotion. 
  • Use station's social media and digital platforms to drive viewer engagement.
  • Produce image, targeted sweeps stories, and investigative promos.
  • Produce entertainment and programming promotion. 
  • Edit using Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Shoot using Canon C300 Mark III, DSLR's, and an array of lenses.  
  • Work closely with news producers, anchors, photographers, and managers. 
  • Deal with the challenges of time-sensitive deadlines without compromising.
  • Creative contribution across all departments.
  • In-person attendance required. 

Requirements:

  • Media or television station professionals preferred.
  • Television Writer/Editor/Producer experience preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects preferred.
  • Strong editing skills: Adobe Premiere experience preferred.
  • Experience creating compelling promos. 
  • Extremely high standards.
  • Ability to write, produce and edit promos start to finish.
  • Meet tight deadlines and adapt to whatever the project calls for.
  • Highly organized with attention to details.
  • Handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work efficiently under time constraints. 
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Work a flexible schedule including overtime, if necessary.
  • Great attitude and strong collaborator.
  • Takes critiques and direction well.
  • Advanced knowledge and nuances of social media platforms.

The estimated base salary range for this role is between $45,000 and $50,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
