Assistant Director, Organic Social Strategy

Assistant Director, Organic Social Strategy leads enterprise organic social strategy across brand, line of business, and executive social channels. Sets platform direction, campaign priorities, and optimization focus to ensure organic social presence supports business objectives, brand positioning, audience engagement, reputation management, and broader discoverability goals. Serves as the functional lead for organic social strategy, partnering closely with Search & AI Strategy to strengthen content visibility, authority signals, and audience engagement across evolving digital discovery environments.

  • Lead enterprise organic social strategy across assigned platforms and portfolios, establishing channel priorities, engagement objectives, content direction, and optimization focus aligned to business goals and brand standards. (20%)
  • Partner with Search & AI Strategy to align organic social programs with enterprise discoverability objectives, leveraging social channels to amplify priority content, strengthen authority signals, identify emerging audience questions and topics, and support visibility across search and AI-driven discovery environments. (20%)
  • Direct campaign planning and social content strategy in partnership with internal stakeholders, ensuring initiatives are coordinated, audience-informed, and aligned to enterprise marketing priorities. (15%)
  • Oversee social listening standards, community management expectations, and escalation protocols while identifying audience trends, emerging questions, industry conversations, and content opportunities that may influence both social engagement and broader discovery strategies. (15%)
  • Partner with Paid Media, Communications, Search & AI Strategy, Digital Experimentation, and Analytics to align messaging, content distribution, testing priorities, performance evaluation, and discoverability initiatives while maintaining clear ownership for organic social strategy. (15%)
  • Lead and develop specialist-level organic social resources by setting priorities, reviewing work, coaching team members, and translating performance, audience, and competitive insights into actions that improve engagement, discoverability, and business impact. (15%)
Job Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of organic social media strategy, platform dynamics, content planning, audience engagement practices, and reputational considerations across enterprise social channels.
  • Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to align social direction to business priorities, brand positioning, audience engagement, and enterprise discoverability objectives.
  • Strong communication and editorial judgment, including the ability to shape channel voice, ensure message consistency, and guide high-visibility social content decisions.
  • Ability to interpret social performance, engagement trends, and competitive activity and convert findings into actionable recommendations and optimization plans.
  • Understanding of how content, authority signals, audience engagement, and third-party conversations influence visibility across traditional search engines, AI-generated experiences, and evolving discovery platforms.
  • Experience partnering with SEO, content strategy, analytics, or digital discovery teams to translate audience insights and content performance data into optimization opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead work through others, provide coaching and quality oversight, and establish clear standards for execution and accountability.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and influence skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with brand, communications, paid media, analytics, experimentation, Search & AI Strategy, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance strategic direction, governance, and day-to-day decision making in a fast-moving, publicly visible environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with evolving search and AI-driven discovery platforms and an understanding of the role social content, engagement, and external authority signals play in content visibility and brand consideration.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$107,600 - $161,400
