Energy Department
The Energy Group is responsible for supporting Vantage's data center portfolio through the execution and management of complex commercial energy agreements, including utility service agreements, power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, gas supply and infrastructure contracts, and other energy-adjacent arrangements. The team partners closely with project management, development, legal, finance, and external counterparties to ensure contracts are executed efficiently, accurately documented, and aligned with business objectives.
Position Overview
This role can be based in any of our US locations or Remote
The Sr. Director, Energy Project Development is responsible for leading execution of Vantage's North American energy development portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered in alignment with cost, schedule, and reliability objectives. This role provides leadership and oversight across a team of Project Managers and Coordinators, driving consistent execution standards, portfolio visibility, and disciplined risk management.
The Sr. Director serves as the primary escalation point for cross-functional execution challenges, aligning Transmission & Interconnection, Energy Infrastructure, and Commercial workstreams to ensure timely and coordinated delivery. This role operates at both a strategic and operational level-owning portfolio performance, influencing development strategy, and supporting executive decision-making through clear reporting of risks, tradeoffs, and key milestones.
Essential Job Functions
  • Lead execution of a multi-project energy development portfolio, ensuring delivery against schedule, cost, and reliability targets
  • Manage, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of Project Managers and Coordinators
  • Establish and enforce standardized project management processes, governance, and reporting across the portfolio
  • Own portfolio-level schedule integration, budget tracking, and risk management frameworks
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Transmission & Interconnection, Energy Infrastructure, and Commercial teams
  • Serve as primary escalation point for complex execution challenges and cross-functional conflicts
  • Lead identification, prioritization, and mitigation of portfolio-wide risks and critical path constraints
  • Provide executive-level reporting on project performance, key risks, and decision requirements
  • Allocate resources dynamically across projects based on risk, complexity, and strategic importance
  • Support development strategy by evaluating tradeoffs across cost, schedule, infrastructure, and commercial considerations
  • Drive continuous improvement of tools, processes, and performance metrics to enhance execution efficiency

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Legal Studies, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in energy project development, infrastructure delivery, or large-scale capital project management
  • Strong background in development and execution of renewable (solar, wind, storage) and/or conventional generation and large load projects
  • Proven experience managing complex portfolios and leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Deep expertise in project controls, including integrated scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management
  • Strong understanding of energy project lifecycle, including interconnection, infrastructure, and commercial integration
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels, influencing executive decision-making
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, highly ambiguous environments while maintaining execution rigor

Physical Demands and Special Requirements
  • Primarily desk-based, remote office role.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional meetings outside normal business hours may be required due to cross-functional or counterparty scheduling.

Additional Details
  • Salary Range: $200,000-$225,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)
  • This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.
  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
