Job description

Lutheran Social Service MN is a dynamic social service organization serving children, youth and families, people with disabilities, older adults, and military veterans. Energy Assistance Program (EAP) Specialists process client applications; provide in-person client assistance, as well as community outreach; and are responsible for completing data entry in a fast-paced environment. EAP Specialists are responsible for following Energy Assistance Program guidelines, rules, and regulations. This position requires professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to work with a diverse population, along with a driving desire to make a difference in the lives of low-income families and individuals throughout Crow Wing County.
Duties and Responsibilities (Not all inclusive):
These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks.
  • Assess client needs and gather information needed to determine program eligibility
  • Retrieve online applications submitted in eHEAT system
  • Scan applications received at site locations.
  • Complete accurate data entry-including inputting household information and application data (text-based and numerical) from documents into eHEAT system.
  • Respond to heating emergencies within Department of Commerce timelines
  • Coordinate with energy vendors, place emergency guarantees and complete follow up activity
  • Answer client requests and questions via phone, email, and in person
  • Be knowledgeable of community resources; collaborate with staff and external sources of services
  • Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and community outreach events as requested
  • Other duties as assigned
