Job description

The BasicsWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer with 7+ years of experience to join the IT Engineering team at Tanium. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing a world class network architecture to ensure the availability, security, and resiliency of our employee access and systems.
This position follows the Company's hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Durham, NC
What you'll do
  • Go hands-on with switches, firewalls, and other network equipment for upgrades, break/fix, and maintenance as needed.
  • Lead the effort to modernize Tanium's corporate network infrastructure to support rapid growth and an evolving threat landscape.
  • Manage and optimize a multisite hybrid WAN topology, including office locations, Colo facilities, and cloud providers.
  • Plan and optimize Wireless deployments in office locations
  • Collaborate with other technical, security and non-technical teams to resolve operational challenges and optimize network-heavy workflows
  • Deploy network monitoring and visibility tooling to proactively sustain network performance
  • Handle escalations and troubleshooting related to network services
  • Partner with datacenter teams to optimize networking demands related to virtualization and storage.
  • Deploy and continuously evaluate Firewall rules and configurations in response to evolving business needs.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive documentation of Network designs, WAN topology, and security zones.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
  • Be a solution-oriented team player who has the ambition to continuously improve and add value for stakeholders across Tanium.

We're looking for someone with
  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT or other relevant degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience
    • 7+ yrs experience in a similar role with CCNP certification
    • Expert level network troubleshooting skills including familiarity with deep packet analysis tools (i.e. Wireshark)
    • Experience with Cisco Secure Access, Tailscale, or similar ZTNA products
    • Direct experience providing resilient connectivity to public cloud providers
    • Expert understanding of network related services like DNS, DHCP, BGP, IPv6, etc
    • Experience with Cisco FTD and Meraki devices
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment with minimal coaching

The ideal candidate would also have experience in
  • Fundamental infrastructure technologies, such as virtualization, system automation tooling, and common client/server Operating Systems (e.g. Windows, Linux, MacOS)
  • Hands on experience with Tanium
  • Ansible, Terraform, Github, Cloudflare

What you'll get
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $146,000 to $224,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.
In addition to an annual base salary, team members will receive equity awards and a generous benefits package consisting of medical, dental and vision plan, family planning benefits, health savings account, flexible spending account, transportation savings account, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, life, accident and disability coverage, business travel accident insurance, employee assistance programs, disability insurance, and other well-being benefits.
